Co-op Week: Movie Night
To mark Co-op Week 2015, BCCA will shine the spotlight on a special type of co-operative structure: the worker co-op. Worker co-ops are businesses entirely owned and operated by the people who work for them.
We are proud to present a screening of the hit documentary: Shift Change. This movie is about worker co-ops competing successfully in today's economy while providing dignified, secure jobs in democratic workplaces. How's that for #CoopAdvantage?
our local worker co-op panel
Following the screening, we will be hosting a panel of local worker co-op gurus: people who are building the movement from the ground up, right here in BC. They are:
- Lisa Giroday, co-founder of Victory Gardens;
- Chris Nichols, co-founder of Wood Shop Worker's Co-op;
- Marty Frost, co-founder of DevCo;
- Kevin Harding, director of co-op development at BCCA.
The discussion with this top-notch panel will be moderated by another local hero, a modern co-operator if you will, William Azaroff, VP of Community Investments at Vancity.
